Purpose
Overview
This journalistic report site aims to explore the practices, experiences, and perspectives of individuals involved in improving and practicing mental health care interventions in New London, CT county. Particular interests lie in interviewing but not limited to health care professionals, future health professionals, social workers, community organizations, community workers and leaders, spiritual leaders, and individuals who have experienced the mental health care systems.

This site also includes personal reflections from my journey as a student and future health professional in the U.S.

As a current undergraduate student exploring mental health care within my community, I recognize that the field of mental health is constantly evolving. While I may not have all the questions or answers, I believe it is vital to share what is currently available and amplify the voices of those directly involved in the community. Beyond the statistics, it is these lived experiences and perspectives that provide invaluable insight into the ongoing conversation surrounding mental health care. We must be able to explore our thoughts and concerns to spark ideas for change.

According to the World Psychiatric Association (2019) -- mental illness stigma is the most important barrier we must recognize that impacts the quality of life of mental health consumers, their family members, and developments in mental health reform.
